How much space you have chicks have in a barn?

We are going swap chicken this weekend and look forward to getting a few chickens. We make cooperation for them and were wondering how much space each chicken will be less crowded. As great as we all "cubby" to do? So we have it all ready for you when they come home. Thanks for any help!

I currently have nine chickens in a "chicken coop" 10ft x 8ft to 12ft with a blanket. have around the "chicken coop" I've fenced in a pen, that is probably 12ft wide and 20 m long, with a dirt floor. A building this large allows the chickens to walk around comfortably when the weather is bad and they want to stay out of the weather. In the "chicken coop" I have 6 nest boxes and I have made it a top-boxes on the like I have a chicken tries to sit on their eggs, other chickens get into the nest box with her, because It seems that even though I was 6 nexting boxes, they seem to have a certain pick, and that's where they want to put all their eggs. The last weekend I build a smaller nest box with only 4 nesting boxes, and they have but tops the chickens have not figured out what they have. Although I have more space than I need right now, but I would like to 15-20 hens.for the more I really the place for so I also have a "duplex" in the henhouse other page of my original "chicken coop" but it is only about 5 feet by 10 ft and houses only 6 birds. . . . I enjoy my chickens. Happiness

Why do chicken coops are high above the ground?

I was looking in the yard "Farm &" section of craigslist and saw a very sweet sell chicken coop. It was built high above the ground and had narrow staircase to a small door for the hens to enter a little. The interior of the Chicken coop had what looked like a "shelf" in it, or perhaps a rectangular box. So, why is the chicken coop built so high above the ground that requires that steps be only there to? And what is the shelf or box in the henhouse?

There are two reasons for building a chicken coop out of the Soil: It is so the cottage can fall out and easier to treat (chicken make a lot of poop). This would only make sense if the ground is the wire mesh Coop. The other reason is to keep the predators away from the chickens – with a variety of animals like the taste of chicken (wild and domesticated animals).
