winterizing chicken coop?

I have an old shed that I have for my chicken coop. There is no power, and it's a long way from my house or any other means to contribute. i need ideas for my chicken to it through the cold winter in upstate New York, it's nothing below 0 temps and 4 meters Snow should see, I keep the yeard accecable or lock-in

During particularly brutal winter, when walking into the barn several times a day to break the ice waterers used in planning, implementing outdoor rated extension cords, what kind of heat source. I have a 120-year old Coop, which is not isolated, but I am lucky enough to have electric. I hang 250-watt lights over the brood nest boxes and potions for extra warmth. You will be surprised how well a breeding pair of lamps can be a coop warm! Put a thick layer of pine shavings and straw on the ground to help isolate them. You can also nest boxes up to Pallets to help them out of the ground and your birds get a little heat when nesting. Extra beds in the fields, and your birds huddle together for body heat to hold. Some birds venture into the snow, but most of our struts are races, and they will not set foot in the snow. The feathers get wet, frozen and can Frostbite cause when they go out. To help combat cabin fever with my birds, I will sometimes turn old bedding out of the door on the snow and throw some scratches, so they pick something to have on. Bored birds get used to cranky and peck each other sometimes – hence the term "locked up", perhaps? Their cooperation is not too warm and welcoming, rather than adult birds to find creative ways to keep warm are talented. I have a couple that at the beginning of my goats Castle found to warm up! However, I always measure the temperature there and try to keep a "hot spot" of at least 35-40 degrees for them. If Do not run extension cords, you can also try to use a safe barn heater (one that shuts off when deposited or) overheating. Make sure it is positioned where they do not sing their feathers can. A occilating heat fan works great – and because it moves, no one the bright idea to try it on castle. When I young birds go into the winter months (have my silk chickens would hatch chicks, if it had -25), I own breeding pen in a garage as well. The building is better isolation, is closer to the house, and I have to monitor it more easily, as do the younger birds. If you are) young birds (less than 6 months, you can find Alternative temporary accommodation for them. I am not turning my laundry room into groups of a brood, either! The previous owner of my property actually using an old wood stove in the coop, but in an old wooden house with combustible beds everywhere, I would not recommend it! Hope this helps!
