What should I Coop?

I am planning in the summer is always about 5 chickens at some point, but I'm not sure how big should I build of cooperation, so as not cramped. I was totally with them free range on our property as the other planned, but I have a feeling, two of the dogs we would not understand that they are taboo and not toys, so I will put a pin in our area they have. The coop would mainly be a place to act for the quarter and lay their eggs, but I have never seen before, so constructed that any suggestions? I'm not planning on letting one of the eggs hatch, until I the only one am on the property left, at which point I give the hens more room. Thanks to all the answers:)

OK well every chicken should atleast 4 to 6 meters of personal space before I beat so if ur gonna have chickens lay eggs and chicks toy make it a 20 by 20 foot coop

Need Help with raising chickens?

I will build a chicken Coop and run, there are too many cats and dogs for free-range. I planning steps 8 egg-layers (Wyandotte's) and maybe a tap. I have read from a variety of Web sites about chickens, but I would of someone of a few years of professional experience has chicken like. I wanted to get a cock but I do not want to breed of chicken, I thought the rooster would be a good social Structure to make. So I was a rooster? I want my chickens enough room to be happy, so how big should be operated and Coop? I would appreciate Coop & Run building plans that were safe enough to dogs, cats and raccoons from the Coop and running. Please provide any hints, thanks!

Wyandotte is a good choice, and they are great layers but when I find out I would get a few different breeds. So if you are more chickens go to day you have experience with other races and know what are you favorite. barred rocks, Rhode Iceland Red, Orpingtons and sussexs are all heavy breeds, good locations and an attractive appearance as Wyandotte. if you are no taps on a hen will take over as the cock and control. if you have any neighbors, which is then common sense are obtained a cock. they are beautiful and protect the flock and find food for the chickens. Some people will tell you, they get aggressive, but I think if you raise hand them their will be no problem. just a gentle race as Cochin, Brahma, Orpington, Plymouth Rock, Maran, Jersey Giant and others I would have a 6 by 8 ft coop they happy fit, 3 – 4 are the general requirements sq. feet to the Coop space per bird. which should run for at least 10 of 10 and greater, if not free range.
